Why read the BG?  How does it relate to Yoga? The Bhagavad Gita is a life-long study. Each examination reveals new meaning and insights. The Gita addresses the many teachings of yoga, but perhaps one of the central themes is to illuminate to the average person the art of remaining in a state of equanimity despite the pull of oppositional forces, which often shake us from our center. This book club is for any enthusiast of yoga seeking a deeper understanding of the fundamental philosophies of the practice.

Through the practices which calm our mind, we begin to realize the interconnectedness of all life. With our new insight, our actions transform from self motivation to  selfless service. We shift from our smaller perception of our purpose and embrace our new found role as a thought leader in the world helping to shape a reality of inclusion and compassion.

What do I need to prepare?  It can be challenging to read an ancient text alone, even one as timeless as the Gita. Discussing it together gives us a chance to hear other perspectives and ask questions. Whether you’ve studied the Gita before, or never opened a copy, this club is for you. Each week, our readings will be accompanied by several questions which will guide our discussions. One weeks were we do not meet as a group you will receive an email with self-study questions to guide you.
